GREEK MUSIC

YOUR SELECTION

Traditional  Greek Music can be heard anywhere from mainland Greece to all of the outlaying islands across the Aegean and mediterranean seas. As with any other type of music it takes many forms, from classical to modern day dance music. Over the years there have been many Greek songs and of course artists that have appealed to a wide variety of people. From Mikos Theodorakis with his famous and almost stereotypical "Zorba The Greek", to Nana Mouskouri with amongst others "Never on A Sunday" and "The White Rose of Athens".

We have provided you with a sample of the files collected whilst designing this web site and a few of my own personal favourites. The music on this page is almost all in MIDI format which helps to conserve space and decrease download time. The cost of this being loss of full orchestration within the music itself. Listen to the rhythm and the tune and you can almost hear what it would sound like with complete instrumentation. I am sure that amongst the many melodies provided here, will be one or two that you recognize from a holiday experience in any part of Greece.

To enjoy the music please click on the box below and select a title. You can control the music in several different ways. To stop the music completely use the STOP MUSIC button. Alternatively you may simply scroll to the next song in the list and it will automatically begin to play. Some of the songs are fairly large so please be alittle patiernt whilst they load. If you want to listen to them again, then you can also return to the top of the scroll bar and "Click to Display Music Selection".
